Tick Bite Protocol: Immediate Action Steps
1. Remove & Treat the Bite
Remove the tick immediately. If the head remains embedded, follow the exact same steps below.
Apply black drawing salve directly to the bite area.
Cover with a bandage and leave it on for 24–48 hours. You can change the bandage and apply fresh salve as needed during this time.
2. Internal Supplements
Ledum palustre (30c): Take 3 tablets, twice within the very first hour after the bite. Do this for the first hour only. Tip: Dissolve them straight into your mouth without touching them, as skin oils can degrade the remedy.
Japanese Knotweed: Take 1 full dropperful, twice a day, for one full week.
Preventative Tips
Tick Flick’r: Grab a bottle of our natural Tick Flick’r spray to use as a preventative defense.
Insect Shield Clothing: For the highest level of protection, use Permethrin-treated clothing. While not everyone loves using chemical treatments (myself included so I don’t), it is the only 100% effective method found so far. (For example, it's great for dog jackets or wearing heavy-duty jeans when working deep in the woods).
We have bought pre-treated dog jackets from insectshield.com They do not come in the house, if they need to be cleaned we use an outside hose away from everything and I wipe the dogs down before coming back inside.
